Glad that there are other people out there raising the alarm. Unfortunately, Facebook kicked my page on hunger and climate change off after they adopted new community standards after Trump got elected. They claimed I was selling knock offs as genuine, goes they thought Donald’s climate and hunger claims were real. I appealed and after 8 months they let me back on but only with a very broad face screen for facial recognition. i decided not to rejoin, so I unfortunately won’t be able to follow you. Would love to hear what you are writing about.

Rome/Geneva (FAO/WMO) – Extreme heat events threaten the livelihoods, health and labour productivity of over a billion people. Agricultural workers and agrifood systems are on the frontlines.
Key messages
New FAO-WMO report assesses risks and identifies adaptation options
Rising temperatures pose hazards to people, crops, livestock and fish
Climate services inform adaptative measures such as selective breeding and crop choices
Seasonal outlooks and early warning systems help farmers prepare for extreme heat
The real problem is not ElNinio, but the fact that sufficient food stocks are not created as security for crises. A large volcanic eruption, like Krakatoa, could easily lead to a 50% crop loss in the following two years. And at some point something like this will happen again. It would cost just 1% of the gross national product if one were to build up a grain supply spread over 10 years that could feed everyone for a year (around 400 kg/person). We currently rely on derivatives and global trade to hedge risk. This can cushion small crises quite well. But since fewer reserves are held, this makes a major loss of production that much worse. And the world itself can produce more than enough food. But in agriculture the response time is typically at least a year! Therefore, you should take appropriate precautions. And then you can easily absorb regular events like ElNinio.
You are so right. The pandemic showed how vulnerable out global trade is and how easily food suppies can be disrupted.Many people around the world suffered. Hunger really is a policy choice and right now we are implementing policies that leave more 25% of the global and American populations hungry. We need to chaqnge those priorities.

I suppose the culling of cattle herds due to long-term western US drought is the kind of climate feedback we need. But as you document, overall the impacts on the world’s poor is dire. Sobering, but deadly real, well-researched reporting. We're on a tragic path with numerous issues pointing at agricultural collapse, truly a horror show.
“The humanitarian map of the coming year, shows a redistribution of drought, flood, and heat across five continents and a calendar that says the reckoning arrives after the existing food reserves have already been spent.”
Action to dramatically reduce carbon emissions and step up mutual aide to the millions affected by the worsening climate emergency must happen now. If we can only get world leaders focused on something other fossil fossil expansion and the largest military budget increases in history.
