It's time to reverse the tax cuts to the wealthy and return funding to America's safety net and international humanitarian aid! Europe has the same problems, but likely different solutions. However, it is clearly time to TAX the RICH!

Taxation isn't even necessary in an economy not based on debt-financing.

Maybe not, but having the big corporations and 1 percent pay their fair share sure hepls!

What is society's profit, and where is that going. That is the question. We do all this work for what?

Society profits from demonstrations of empathy and humanity. It also profits from a rebalancing of global society organized under colonial times.

Stupidly, wealthy nations are broke. The US debt burden is $40 trillion. France is dragging down Europe with nearly $4 trillion in debt. Average people that may have dependably given to organizations like Oxfam in the past are struggling. Of course, the fact that it comes down to citizens to defeat hunger is a dereliction of governance to begin with when there is always money for bombs and war. Feeding people should not be a GoFundMe situation.

People misread both global warming and this El Nino. Burning fuels has not initiated a Great Warming, but will be the trigger for one, which works via this largest El Nino or a coming series of them, in which warm Pacific water evaporates and becomes salty, sinks, to become a warm bottom current, melting the seabed methyl hydrates which starts the next Great Warming. Previous ones have avoided the “Venus Syndrome” but we may not be so lucky this time. See Hansen, J.E., 2009, "Storms of My Grandchildren" Chapter 10.

Much of the CO2 we are putting into the atmosphere will be there for 1,000 years!

Bolivia just declared an Emergency due to El Nino caused Drought. And Greenpeace Africa - only yesterday call an alarm due to loss of harvest, - asking all tp make B I G oil, pay. The money I S there, but, as You state so well again dear Mark; the W I L L is no where in sight. Love You!

It is not nearly the last declaration of emergency that we are going to see. I’m just hoping that the first Western country responds with humanitarian aid and challenges the rest to act too!

Ciao!

Again; all my respect and I think You read the cryosphere report. It made me outrageuons they didnt even cover that. And UK just hit another round of withdrawel of funds to AID. Good night dear. We hope, and try to act providing that hope into reality.

Blue Wave could help things if the Democrats use the power that they got last night to do good and not to bolster their billionaire backers.

Yes, we must retrun funding to international humanitarian aid! The WFP, IRC, and others know how to help the "third world" ...but can only act if we give them the funds and supplies. We are one small world and need to recognize that!
